Infinite Acts of Kindness (IAK) is a nonprofit organization that empowers low income
single mothers. Through the delivery of personalized care packages, training and
education and academic scholarships, IAK is able to make a difference in their
lives. IAK is managed and operated solely by volunteers who have a deep
compassion and commitment to inspire single mothers across the United States.
IAK was established in March 2009 and is further distinguished as a tax-exempt
Our president and founder, Andrea James, has firsthand experience being a single
mother. She became pregnant at the age of 15 and successfully raised her
daughter and co-founder, Donisha Freeman. Despite the challenges of teenage
pregnancy, Andrea was determined to overcome the obstacles of being a teenage
mom and pursue her goals.
Although it began as a hobby in the year 2000 for college students, the founders of
IAK transformed their passion for helping single mothers and young women by
creating and delivering care packages. These care packages contained basic
necessities such as clothing, school supplies and toiletries. Over the years, they
have personally supported single women and mothers throughout Maryland,
Virginia, North Carolina and the District of Columbia by providing gift baskets,
financial assistance, mentoring and various other products and services. Infinite
Acts of Kindness was rooted from this concept.
Andrea and Donisha have a true testimony on beating the odds and are dedicated
to making a difference in the lives of others. They didn’t let their circumstances
prevent them from achieving their goals and dreams. As a mother and daughter
team, Andrea and Donisha have a very special bond and have managed to put a
new face on triumph, faith and determination. They hope that their successes and
ambition will encourage single mothers to achieve their ultimate goals in life.
"It is such a joyful feeling to know
that IAK is making a significant
difference in the lives of so many
single mothers. It is a long time
dream evolving into reality, which
brings me great gratitude."
